It seems like there is an endless amount of things you can do in the online world in order to stand out as a new business right now. Because of this we have broken down 4 specific things you can do to stand out in 2021. Here they are!
1. A Website
When people are choosing between you and another small business they are going to your website to help them make that decision. They are looking for details about how you can help them, what your story is all about, who works with you, experience you have and if your brand matches your business.
Be prepared. Have the solid base (your website) ready for people researching your business.
You can check out some Foundational Content for Your Website here.
2. Business Email
They might not even know it, but people get turned off of a business when they see an email that isn’t branded for the business – [email protected].
And you know it and feel it every time you send an email from your less than professional email.
If you would like a business email that works just the same as your google email, head to this link:
You can also use this promo code (J4VYU96YA7F3LTU) to get 10% off the Standard Business for your Google Workspace. It’s what we use and it works perfectly for all of our small business needs. This is everything you get with it:
- Custom and secure business email
- 150 participant video meetings + recording
- 2 TB cloud storage per user
- Security and management controls
- Standard Support (paid upgrade to Enhanced Support)
$15.60 CAD/month (minus 10% for the first year).
Yes, we get a small kickback for this, but why not support each other?
3. Social Media Presence
Get your business set up on the appropriate social media platforms for your business. A good place to start is LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram. You can expand from there after you have yourself established and understand how to best use these platforms.
Put out as much content as you can on these platforms. (This is an article on how you can do that!) Once again, when people are looking into your business they will be going to these platforms to see what kind of value you can add for them.
4. Google My Business Page
If you do nothing else, do this! This is the first step to people finding you in search. You will show up on Google and people can find out more about you right from the My Business page. It is like the gatekeeper to the rest of your business. You can put basic info like hours, services, reviews and you can also post updates and current promotions.
The biggest part of this is that you get your business location on Google Maps – a key component of search especially if people are looking for your services in your own community!
These 4 things are a “must do” if you want to look professional and be the one that is chosen over your competitors. Best wishes to you and your business this year! Please reach out if you have any questions.
